Gillies, Adam (Researcher) Hayward, Gordon (Researcher) Mackersie, John (Researcher) Smillie, Grant (Technician) Gachagan, Anthony (Principal Investigator)
WoodSonics is a European Seventh Framework project that proposed a cost-efficient in-line wood grading machine (around €60.000) which uses an ultrasonic rolling transducer to detect, identify and localize specific defects in pieces of structural timber. The roller will be installed on the sorting line without disrupting sawmills activity. The project was a collaboration between Ateknea Solutions, Alba Ultrsound, MicroTec, Manipulacions De Fusta S.L., BSW Timber Group, University of Strathclyde and the Technical University of Munich.
